Thistle Area Climbing Guide

Thistle offers solid limestone climbing with a good mix of traditional and sport routes across two main areas. The Summit Wall and Booty Wall Area provide everything from mellow trad lines to burly test pieces, making it a solid destination for climbers looking to get on quality rock. Access is straightforward, but respect private property and pack out your trash.

Classic Routes

The must-do lines that define Thistle. These routes have earned their reputation through quality movement, good rock, and that special something that makes them memorable.

Routes

Beginner Routes (5.6–5.9)

Perfect for building your trad skills or getting comfortable on limestone. These routes offer good movement without being overly intimidating, plus you'll get familiar with the rock quality before jumping on harder stuff.

Routes

Intermediate Routes (5.10–5.11)

This is where Thistle really shines. Solid 5.10 trad climbing that'll keep you honest, plus some harder lines when you're ready to push it. Good variety between the walls keeps sessions interesting.

Hard Routes (5.12+)

The business end of Thistle. These routes demand solid technique and mental game. If you're climbing this hard, you already know what you're getting into.
